Housing Accommodations

How to Request a Housing Accommodation

  • Students must apply for accommodations through Banner. Students who are requesting accommodations for the first time at MSU can visit New to the DRC: Requesting Accommodations (create link) to learn how to apply for accommodations at MSU.
  • Students returning to MSU who already have accommodation plans can visit Returning Students: Adding and Updating Accommodations (create link) to learn how to request additional accommodations to make updates to current accommodation plans.

Documentation Guidelines

  • Information regarding documentation for housing accommodations can be found at Documentation Guidelines (create link)

Important Information

  • Students who are applying for housing accommodations must also complete their housing contact and any other requirements with the Office of Housing and Residence Life. To learn more about applying with Housing and Residence Life, visit www.msstate.edu/future-students/apply.
  • The priority deadline for accommodated housing requests through the DRC is March 15th. Applications must be completed in full and accompanied by documentation that supports the housing request. If the application request is unclear or the documentation is not sufficient, a Coordinator will notify the student via email. Applications and documentation must be ready to review by March 15th.
  • Students can submit housing requests at any time; however, requests submitted after March 15th will be prioritized based on the access-based need and availability.
  • The DRC team will review all requests and communicate the approval/denial decisions with students via their MSU email. The DRC’s primary form of communication is email, so students are strongly encouraged to check their MSU email frequently.
  • Students who have been approved for housing accommodations will receive all housing-related information from the Office of Housing and Residence Life.
  • Students approved for housing accommodations will have ADA rooms. There is no ADA-identifying information on these rooms; however, the dimensions for these rooms are different from the traditional rooms. Housing and Residence Life can share more information regarding ADA rooms.
  • The DRC cannot request specific residence hall locations unless there is an access-based need.
